Inside Washington Packing Co. in San Francisco, a small cannery that closed in 1963 when two women died from botulism after eating a bad can of A. & P. tuna packed by Washington. Due to mass panic following the deaths, tuna sales fell dramatically, the industry laid off workers, and other plants were shut down.
