Open trenches in the dry lake beds just south of Amboy, California.
Besides Roy’s Motel and the Post Office in town, the chloride works (one of the world’s largest) was the only source of work in the region, contributing to its limited growth over the years. Today, Amboy is practically a ghost town.
From what I can tell, this site is mostly inactive but kick starts when the economic conditions allow.
