Negit Island

Negit Island, a volcanic cone in Mono Lake that was formed less than 2000 years ago and most recently erupted just 250 years ago. It is accessible only by boat now, but as recently as 1994, a land bridge allowed predators such as coyotes to populate the island and disrupt California Gulls and other migratory birds. The water level rose after LA was forced to stop diverting water from the lake.
