The murals, created by nationally acclaimed Dutch-born muralist Anthony Heinsbergen, are in remarkably good shape. Heinsbergen immigrated to Los Angeles in 1906 and went on to decorate over 750 theatres nationwide, 200 of which still survive.

Opened in 1947, and closed in 1982, the theatre has sat vacant ever since, falling into a state of disrepair. Currently, the Lorenzo Theater Foundation is raising funds to try to save the theatre from the wrecking ball.
