6-years of decay take their toll at the former West Side Chicago Brach’s Candy Factory. The company, which began in Chicago in 1904, expanded to this new location in 1922 as candy demand and output grew rapidly in the company’s early years. At its peak, the factory employed 3500, and it was the largest candy producer in the United States. It closed in 2003.
