Amy poses on a pedestal of rubbish outside the charred remains of the Bayshore Roundhouse in Brisbane.
Completed in 1910, the brick roundhouse serviced steam-powered locomotives on the Peninsula’s new eastern rail line which opened in December 1907, after being delayed by the 1906 earthquake.
Steam engine maintenance facilities like roundhouses were largely obsolete by the late 1950s with lower maintenance diesel engines becoming dominant, and the site was abandoned in the early 80s.
