Amoeba Earth

As I was driving into Alturas on HWY 395 while doing fieldwork for USGS, I noticed some interesting patterns on the surface but I couldn’t tell what they were from ground level. I’m still not certain, but by suspending my camera from a kite, I obtained a much more revealing view.
