Kiwis refer to the beaches on the west coast as black sand beaches, and on the east coast, they claim you will find white sand. Although the sand is lighter on the east coast, I don’t think they even approach white or black sand. Especially not when compared to Black Sand Beach in Hawai’i or White Sands NM in New Mexico.
