The first iMac, Apple’s all-in-one Macintosh desktop computer, was launched in 1998 shortly after Steve Jobs returned to Apple Computer. When Jobs was brought back in 1996, Apple was struggling to stay afloat, and this computer helped save the company.
Seeing that awful mouse brings back painful memories of using iMacs in early grad school…I definitely had more computer crashes in 2000-2001 than the rest of my life put together. My favorite problem was when Microsoft Word would crash when I hit “save file”, corrupting the entire thing. I still have a habit of renaming a file every time I save it.
